Eibsee is a beautiful Alpine lake that is dramatically situated at the foot of the Zugspitze, which is the highest mountain in Germany. Eibsee is entirely within Germany but just north of the border of Austria.

There is a hidden, informal FKK area about halfway across the north shore of Eibsee. A bit off the beaten path, with no signs indicating the way, it draws a small number of nudists in the know. There is not a proper beach. As you approach the FKK stretch of shoreline, you will be uphill in a forested area. There are a number of trails leading downhill to the lakeshore. Along the lakeshore, there are a number of low, semi-circular stone walls that enclosed flat sunbathing platforms. You can see from uphill which ones are free and which are occupied, and most sunbathers you see are like to be naked. The red line roughly delineates the stretch of shoreline where these platforms are located. Sunbathers are rewarded with a spectacular view across the lake of the glacier-capped mountain.

When you visit for the first time, you'll probably want to work in an excursion to the top of the mountain (see more information here). There is an aerial tramway (Eibsee-Seilbahn) that goes all the way to the top from the lake level, or you can take the cog railway (Zahnradbahn) partway up, then take the shorter aerial tramway (Gletscherbahn) the rest of the way. Consider a morning trip to the peak to beat the crowds followed by an afternoon of nude sunbathing, looking at the peak from the lake.
