The Osterseen are a cluster of small lakes located north of Iffeldorf, extending toward Seeshaupt. These lake are surrounded by the foothills of the Alps. Fohnsee is located approximately in the middle of this cluster. The south end of Fohnsee has two nearby meadows that are popular with sunbathers. A prominent bay at the south end of the lake separates the two areas. The meadow on the east side of the bay is textile. The meadow on the west side of the bay is nudist.

The grassy FKK meadow slopes down the hillside to the lakeshore, with sunbathers clustering at the top of the hill and at the bottom of the hill next to the water. The shallow water, which has a picturesque turquoise hue, is great for swimming, wading and rafting, and there may be upwards of 100 nudists here on peak summer weekends.

The FKK meadow of Fohnsee can be access from two parking lots. You can either park at the textile meadow and hike around the bay, or you can park at the west end of Iffeldorf, which requires a hike that is just a few hundred meters longer.

There is another FKK meadow a few kilometers to the north, on the northeastern side of Grosser Ostersee. It tends not to be quite as popular as Fohnsee.
