Predominantly textile adjoining beaches with around half a dozen beach front tavernas with many sun-beds in front of them. However the combined length of the two beaches is over three kilometres, and textiles seldom venture far from the area near to the tavernas. Nudism is possible, at least out of high season, at the ends of the beaches away from the tavernas. Soft golden sand and gently shelving seabed so beach shoes aren’t needed. The beach to the north (right) is Marathias and to the south (left), Santa Barbara. It isn’t entirely clear where the boundary between Marathias Beach and Santa Barbara beach is. Possibly at one of the two small river mouths that spill out into the sea from the Gorge running down from the direction of Marathias village. The road from Marathias village also follows this course forking in two 600 metres from the beach.

Both ways lead to the beach. The right hand fork heads towards Marathias Beach and ends at FishEye Taverna where there is parking. There is a small parking area on the left hand fork as it bends left behind the beach on the approach to the tavernas at Santa Barbara, where there is more parking. Marathias Beach can also be accessed at the northern end. The road running southwards along the coast from Agios Georgios leads to a footpath that descends to the beach here.

The road is paved most of the way from Agios Georgios and the last part is a good dirt track where it is possible to park. The footpath down to the beach is badly eroded with planks for makeshift bridges. Not for feint hearted!
