The naturist zone is a few hundred meters north of the northernmost automobile parking. This beach is popular with gay men from Bordeaux and is one of the two most popular gay nude beaches of Gironde. (The other is Plage de la Lagune, 85 kilometers to the south by car but less than half that distance as the crow flies.)

Porge-Océan is a very beautiful beach with immense sand dunes. Nudity also occurs on the south end of the beach, which has fewer visitors. The south end of the beach draws straight couples but is not nearly as popular as the beach at La Jenny naturist resort a little farther south.

Plage du Porge-Océan is also known as Plage du Gressier.
