Campbell's Cove is a legally designated nude beach located on the west side of Port Phillip Bay in the rural Melbourne suburb of Werribee South. This beach is remote only in the sense that driving there takes you well off the beaten path, but the location is actually surprisingly exposed. As you drive toward the beach along Campbells Cove Road, you will pass a long row of beach shacks, and the nude beach begins shortly past where these shacks end. Furthermore, there is a private residence located across a fence at the opposite end of the nude beach. You literally park next to the nude area. When you get out of your car, there is a row of low bushes, then there is the beach. The walk is so short that some visitors strip down in the parking area. The designated nude area is rather small, more or less corresponding to the parking area. There are no amenities at all along the beach or nearby.

Obviously, Campbell's Cove is characterized by ease of access. Furthermore, of all the nude beaches in Victoria, this one is the closest to the city center of Melbourne (about 40 kilometers). However, it would be a mistake to assume that these attributes make it Melbourne's favorite or most popular nude beach. Quite the contrary. In contrast to Victoria's other nude beaches, the setting of Campbell's Cove is not at all scenic. There are no cliffs or trees, the water is brown and the beach itself is narrow and covered with pebbles and mossy detritus. Melbourne naturists often scoff at Campbell's Cove and are apt to prefer North Sunnyside Beach on the other side of Port Phillip Bay. Campbell's Cove draws a small number of nudists compared to Sunnyside, and it is attended mostly by men.
