Plage de Maguelone is the closest nude beach to Montpellier, which is just 15 kilometers away. While it does not draw the huge crowds of Plage d'Espiguette, the next beach to the east, it is still quite popular.

As you go west on the beach, you'll first pass through an area that attracts straight couples and families, then there is a gay area, then the crowd thins out as you move farther west, but nudity is possible for several kilometers. Maguelone is continuous with Plage des Aresquiers, the next nude beach to the west.

While both parking lots are a considerable distance from both the nude and textile zones of the beach, in season there is a shuttle called the Petit Train that stops near both parking lots to take visitors to the textile beach, shortening the walk considerably.
