Plage de Pampelonne is a wide sandy beach that stretches about 4 kilometers. Although Pampelonne is one long, continuous beach, it is basically a subdivided development. The beach is a collection of about 20 private establishments—open-air restaurants that rent beach chairs and umbrellas and maintain small stretches of the beach. These beach clubs are clustered in groups of two to five, with some stretches between them available to non-patrons. A fee is required to enter the private beaches, which provide showers and changing facilities. Despite the privatization, it is possible to stroll by the water through the private areas (as long as you're just passing through).

There are two small areas of Pampelonne where nudity is okay.

This pinpointed area is a public-access area between two of the beach clubs: Aqua Club to the north and Cabane Bambou to the south. Nudity is tolerated between these two clubs (but not at them). This part of the beach tends to be comparatively quite since it is a bit south of the major beach developments.

Farther north on Pampelonne, two of the beach clubs—Liberty and Neptune—are clothing optional. However, there is a lot of traffic passing through both.
