Haulover Beach is the only beach in the entire state of Florida that is officially, legally designated as clothing optional. In 1991, Dade County set aside the northern end of Haulover County Park for clothing-optional use. The designated nude area extends about half a mile. This sandy beach is one of the country's best nude beaches. Unlike the overwhelming majority of nude beaches in North America, Haulover is not hidden away in a remote corner. In fact, highrise buildings are prominently in view from the beach, and it takes just a few minutes to walk from the parking lot to the nude area. There are lifeguards, rest rooms, trash cans, food concessions and signs informing visitors of nude use. You'll even find nude volleyball here.

Haulover is very popular, with many hundreds of visitors on peak days. On weekends especially, you won't have a lot of room to spread out. The nude area is mixed but predominantly male, and the far northern section of the beach is the preferred gay area. While nudity is perfectly legal, the beach is patrolled. Loitering on the walkovers to the beach is prohibited, which helps reduce but does not eliminate gawkers. There is a $5-per-vehicle parking fee. Entry is free to walk-ins, and the beach is accessible by bus.

Haulover Beach is about 11 miles north of South Beach, 13 miles northeast of downtown Miami and 20 miles south of Ft. Lauderdale.
