Mission Flats is located on the south bank of the Thompson River west of central Kamloops. Although called a park, Mission Flats is actually an undeveloped stretch of city-owned riverfront less than a kilometer in length that is immediately west of the Weyerhaeuser Pulp Mill and across the river from the small city airport.

Despite the industrial-sounding location, the park actually feels remote, and the mountains across the river form a beautiful backdrop. Small crowds of local naturists gather on the sandbars at the western end of Mission Flats. While the park is patrolled by Kamloops city park rangers, all reports indicate that the city is friendly toward nudists and that nudity is tolerated without hassles.

Later in the summer, or when the river level is low, nude bathers may wade to a small island in the river. The beach is subject to flooding during late spring and early summer.
