Need an escape from L.A.? Upper Big Tujunga Canyon is a beautiful gorge in Angeles National Forest. Alder Creek flows through it and has water all year, and there are a number of swimming holes. A section of the creek has become a site for enjoying nature in the buff.

Forest rangers do not seem to regularly patrol this area and there have been no reports of anti-nudity hassles, but you should by all means cover up on the off chance that you do see a ranger.

Depending on when you visit, you may have the place to yourself, or there may be a dozen or more visitors, most of them naked. This site is occasionally visited by textiles, especially on holiday weekends, but it is mostly the domain of gay men and remains largely undiscovered by others since it is not at all obvious where to park or where to find the trail down to the creek.
