About 94 miles east of downtown Los Angeles near Hesperia, Deep Creek Hot Springs in San Bernardino National Forest is one of the most renowned natural springs sites in the country. Those that take the hike of nearly 2 miles to the springs are rewarded with a hot soak in an enchanting location. Several soaking pools of varying sizes and temperatures are nestled between a canyon wall and Deep Creek.

Nudity is an intrinsic part of the culture here. Rarely do textiles outnumber nudists, and most of the time practically everyone is naked. Forest rangers never bother nudists. Occasionally intrepid nudists will even do the entire hike in the nude. The springs get more of a mix of men and women than do most nudist venues. On weekends, several dozen visitors may be here at any given time, soaking in the pools, swimming in the creek and sunbathing on the sandy creekside beach. The pools are large enough to accommodate small crowds, but you may want to consider a weekday visit if you prefer more space and solitude.

When you visit, remember to bring everything you need, including food and especially plenty of water, and be prepared to pack out any trash. Nothing is available at or near the springs. Wear good hiking shoes. The elevation loss is 900 feet, so the hike out will be more strenuous than the hike in. Remember that it gets very, very hot here during the summer (often 100°F or more).

The directions given detail the easiest route and the only recommended route for two-wheel-drive vehicles. It requires going through private property, Bowen Ranch, but the owners allow access for a fee. Be sure to pay before beginning the hike.
