Warren G. Magnuson Park is located on the western shore of Lake Washington, about 8 miles northeast of downtown Seattle. A small, somewhat off-the-beaten-path area of this park has a history of discreet nude use. North of the main swimming beach but a bit south of the designated dog off-leash beach, there is an area of the lakeshore that is thick with blackberry bushes, and a maze of small dirt trails goes into the bushes. Nudity occurs along the grassy lakefront area that is sheltered by these bushes, and the nude area is rather small, extending about 300 feet at most. Some visitors bring blankets to spread for nude sunbathing.
In the 70's and 80's, nudists gathered on the aforementioned dog beach, before it was a dog beach. That came to an end when the park established the dog off-leash area (OLA) in the 80's. The OLA includes the old nude beach. Some nudists shifted south a little to the current nude area of the blackberry bushes.
A group called Magnuson Beach Bares has formed with the goal of having part of Magnuson Park designated for nude use, but the group does not seem to have recorded much activity since the late 00's. It's a good idea to check their website before you visit to learn of any changes. As best we can tell, park employees are generally aware of nudity south of the OLA area and do not bother nudists, but the nude area seems to be very sporadically attended at present. You may encounter just a handful of nude sunbathers or none at all. Choose a sheltered area and make sure you are not visibly nude to passersby along the broad walkway that follows the lakeshore.
