Lac de Chalain is a small, picturesque lake set amid steeply sloping hills. It stretches about 3 kilometers east to west and one kilometer north to south. Part of the lakeshore has been set aside for naturism. Just around the corner from the textile beach that abuts Domaine de Chalain camping, there is a large sign announcing "Plage Naturiste."

We're not sure of the official limits of the beach, but nudity is practiced along a stretch of about 1.5 kilometers extending westward from Domain de Chalain—in other words, the eastern half of the lake's north shore. A broad path runs just behind the beach, which means there is little privacy from passersby. The beach is quite narrow with no sand—just pebbles.
