Volkspark Friedrichshain is a large public park in the Friedrichshain-Kreuzberg district of Berlin, about 4 kilometers east of the Bradenburg Gate. Not as well-known as the Tiergarten, the Volkspark lies within the former East Berlin. During summer, sunbathers flock to the multiple tree-enclosed meadows of the park. Nude sunning is common toward the western side of the park near Friedenstrasse, especially in the meadow that is on the north side of the Spanish Civil War Memorial (Spanienkämpfer-Denkmal). This meadow is about one kilometer north of Strausberger Platz. From Strausberger Platz U-bahn station, you can connect to a bus that takes you within steps of the meadow.
