Plötzensee is a small glacial lake in the Wedding neighborhood of Mitte, which is Berlin's central district. The lake has been developed into a beach park with full amenities such as showers and food concessions, along with a 250-meter-long man-made, sandy beach. While most of the beach is textile, a section at the northwest end is set aside for nude use. The FKK zone of the sandy beach is separated from the rest of the beach by a fence and comprises a bit less than 20% of the total beach area. Visitors can also sunbathe nude in the grassy lawn beyond the beach. A snack stand in the FKK area is open on peak days.

Strandbad Plötzensee is one of three developed, sandy beach parks within Berlin that have FKK zones. (The other two are Strandbad Wannsee and Strandbad Müggelsee.) Strandbad Plötzensee is by far the closest of the three to the city center, but is also has a much smaller FKK zone and thus much smaller crowds of nudists.

Totally disgusting bit of trivia: Plötzensee literally means "Roach Lake," so named for the throngs of German cockroaches once found here. (Don't worry; the area is no longer teeming with them.)
