Helenesee is a recreation lake located south of the town of Frankfurt, which is usually written as Frankfurt (Oder) or Frankfurt an der Oder to distinguish it from the much larger and more familiar city of Frankfurt (i.e., Frankfurt am Main), which is over 600 kilometers away.

A large textile beach and campgrounds are located on the north shore of the lake. The FKK beach at the southwestern corner of the lake is a few kilometers away from the main textile beach, but the FKK area is directly accessible since it has a separate parking lot. There is a small parking fee.

The area near the parking lot is a broad, gently sloping sandy beach, and this is where most visitors congregate. However, nudity is possible all along the semi-circular 1.5-kilometer-long southwestern shoreline, which is roughly indicated by the red line. There is a restaurant above the FKK beach near the parking lot (clothing required inside).
