Birkwitz and Pratzschwitz are twin villages within the municipality of Pirna, and they are so close together that they are often collectively called Birkwitz-Pratzschwitz. Both villages as well as the town of Pirna are within the metropolitan area of Dresden. Badesee Birkwitz is a small recreation lake located between the two villages. Nude bathing is quite commonplace, but there is not a particular designated FKK area. Instead, nudists and textiles mix freely along all parts of the shoreline. This placemark is pinpointed at the northwest part of the lake next to the parking lot. In this area, there are restrooms, a café and paddle boat rentals as well as a small ribbon of sand along the lakeshore. This part of the lake is the main swimming area. (Swimming is prohibited on the south shore.) There are also ample grassy meadows along the eastern and western shorelines. The circumference of the lake is a little less than 3 kilometers. There is a parking fee, but there is no entry fee for pedestrians and cyclists.

Birkwitz is a village within the municipality of Pirna, and it is about 17 kilometers southeast of Dresden. Route K8774 is the main road through the village. From the center of Birkwitz, follow K8774 south (toward Pirna). After just a few hundred meters, you will reach a left-hand turnoff to a paved parking lot at the northwest corner of Badesee Birkwitz. The paved lot is at coordinates 50.9767, 13.8891 (Map It), and there is a large grassy lot just beyond.

If you reach the neighboring village of Pratzschwitz, which is just over a kilometer away from Birkwitz, you've gone past the entire lake.
