Cospudener See is a large lake that is located about 8 kilometers south of the city center of Leipzig. The lake, which has over 10 kilometers of shoreline, lies partly in the city limits of Leipzig and partly in the neighboring rural district of Leipzig. There is a huge beach with plentiful sand across the entire north shore and along much of the eastern shore as well, and it is by far the most popular beach in Leipzig, drawing thousands of visitors on peak days. The north shore beach is called Nordstrand, while the east shore beach is called Oststrand.
The main point of entry to the beach is straight ahead from the pinpointed bus stop, approximately in the center of Nordstrand. There is small pier in this area. Facing the lake, the areas to the left of the pier (east) are all textile. To the right of the pier (west), the sandy beach curves about 600 meters across the northwestern shoreline, and swimwear tends to become less common the farther away from the pier you walk.
There is a snack kiosk in the FKK area. There is also a restaurant near the Nordstrand pier as well as other restaurants and beach amenities farther away along the eastern shore.
The lake is accessible by public transit. Take tram (Strassenbahn) 3 or 13 to stop Huttenstrasse‎, which is at the intersections of Huttenstrasse‎ and Dieskaustrasse in the Grosszschocher neighborhood of Leipzig. This intersection is at coordinates 51.3006, 12.3280 (Map It). The tram stop is a 2-kilometer walk from the FKK part of the beach, mostly along Lauerscher Weg. However, you can take the bus instead. Around the corner from the tram stop, board bus 65 (in the direction of Markkleeberg) and get off at the third stop, Cospudener See, Nordstrand. Be sure not to get off at the bus stop that is just past the huge parking lot. The bus stop you want is the next one after that. Both these bus stops are pinpointed with blue flag placemarks.
