Kulkwitzer See is a popular recreation lake located on the western periphery of the urban district of Leipzig, about 10 kilometers west of the city center. Swimmers and sunbathers gather all along the eastern shore of the lake, while wind surfers and boaters launch from the western shore. Nudity occurs along parts of the shoreline. The shoreline to the north of the camping area is textile. To the south of the camping area, there is long grassy lawn that faces northwest and extends about 700 meters. The area is predominantly textile but with occasional nudists even though this is not within the designated FKK area.

Near the curvature of the shoreline, there is a café and a children's play area with a walk-in fish sculpture and an octopus slide. To the south of these landmarks, the shoreline faces southwest, and this is where nudists gather. The designated FKK area is a lakeshore lawn that extends about 300 meters, from the play area southward to the point where the lakeshore trail veers very close to the waterline. The FKK area draws a mix of nudists and textiles. Restrooms are located in the textile areas, as are a few other cafés. Admission to the lake is free.

The lake is easily accessible by public transit. Take tram 1 or 2 to the western terminus (Lausen). The tram station is located at coordinates 51.3065, 12.2604 (Map It), about 500-600 meters from the FKK area.
