Westermarkelsdorf is a tiny village that is both the most northerly and the most remote village on the island of Fehmarn. The northwest-facing beach that is just north of Westermarkelsdorf is an undeveloped beach that is attended mainly by nude bathers.

Immediately west of Westermarkelsdorf, there is a parking lot next to the village textile beach. If you were to enter the beach at that access, the FKK area would be about a kilometer to the north (to the right when facing the sea). However, it is possible to take a shortcut to the FKK beach by parking instead next to the lighthouse and the weather station that are just north of the village. From the weather station, a path goes north along the edge of a lagoon. As you walk along this path toward the beach, the shoreline of the lagoon will be to your left. After about 400-500 meters, the path will emerge at the FKK area of the beach.

Strand Westermarkelsdorf is one of three established nude beaches on Fehmarn, a large island that is connected to the mainland via a kilometer-long bridge. The other two FKK beaches are both next to campgrounds. Compared to the other two beaches, Westermarkelsdorf provides a wilder and more remote FKK experience.
