The Bay of Lübeck (Lübecker Bucht) is a segment of the Baltic Sea, and along the western side of the bay there is a long beach that extends over 8 kilometers. This beach is divided between two municalities: Scharbeutz and Timmendorfer Strand. Both are popular beach resort towns.

There is a small section of the beach designated for FKK use. The FKK area lies at the municipal border and is equipped with beach chairs that can be rented. While the nude beach is more commonly associated with Timmendorfer Strand, it can be described both as the extreme northern end of Timmendorfer Strand or the extreme southern end of Scharbeutz. The landmark for finding the FKK area is a large seaside swimming and sauna establishment called Ostsee Therme. There is a beach parking lot on the north side of this facility, and the FKK area begins at the south end. Ostee Therme includes deluxe textile-free sauna facilities, and a perk for sauna guests is quick access to the FKK beach.

GETTING THERE / PARKING:

Assume that your starting point is Exit 17 (Pansdorf) of the A1 autobahn, which is in the municipal border area of Scharbeutz and Timmendorfer Strand. From the exit, follow route L102 northeast toward Scharbeutz. After 2.4 kilometers, a bit past the railway, you will reach a roundabout. Take the first exit of the roundabout and go south (toward Timmendorfer Strand) on route B76. After 2 kilometers, you will reach a parking lot on your left that is next to the beach. This lot, which is at coordinates 54.0129, 10.7684 (Map It), is just before Ostsee Therme. Park as far south as possible in the lot. (Look for the looping green and blue water slides that are part of Ostsee Therme and park near those.) Facing the sea, walk to the right (south). In less than 200 meters, you will reach the start of the FKK area near the southern edge of Ostsee Therme.
