The red and green line is drawn over a distance of about 4.5 kilometers, beginning at the large marina in Kühlungsborn and extending eastward to the pier in at the seaside resort of Heiligendamm. This is a scenic stretch backed by a low cliff, and there is a broad path for cyclists and pedestrians that runs through a band of forest along the top of the cliff. Four beaches entry points, pinpointed by green arrows, provide access to the beach from the clifftop path. Nudity is common along the Kühlungsborn-to-Heiligendamm stretch, but it is not a continuous FKK zone. The red and green segments of the line are rough approximations of patterns of nude and textile use, with red for nude and green for textile. The placemark is randomly pinpointed along one of the FKK stretches.

Assume you were to walk the entire length on the clifftop path, starting in Kühlungsborn. The first FKK zone begins less than 200 meters east of the marina, and this zone is between two access points that are about 300-400 meters apart. This FKK zone is basically the eastern of Kühlungsborn's two nude beaches. (There is another FKK zone on the western side of town.)

Just east of this FKK zone, there is textile stretch that is a designated dog beach (Hundestrand). The dog beach begins at the second beach access from the marina and extends eastward a few hundred meters. The dog beach ends at the town boundary of Kühlungsborn. Continuing east, you will cross into the neighboring town of Wittenbeck.

Roughly the next 1.7 kilometers of beach, between the two white arrows, lie within Wittenbeck, and most of this stretch is frequented by nudists. The exception in the immediately vicinity of Wittenbeck's only beach access, which is textile.

Continuing east past the town boundary of Wittenbeck, you will enter cross into Bad Doberan, specifically the part of that town where the seaside resort of Heiligendamm is located. Nudity is possible for the next kilometer to a beach access called "Kinderstrand." That access is more or less a dividing point, and the beach beyond that access tends to be all or mostly textile continuing toward the pier at Heiligendamm.
