The Fischland-Darss-Zingst peninsula is an oddly shaped land mass that is almost an island. It vaguely resembles a handgun pointing east. At its southwestern extreme, the peninsula is connected to the mainland at an isthmus in the small town of Dierhagen. It is also connected to the mainland via a bridge (pinpointed) that is located south of Zingst. Along the peninsula, there is more than 20 kilometers of west-facing beach and more than 25 kilometers of north-facing beach.
It is difficult to pinpoint a single area and call it a nude beach because the entire peninsula is essentially a nude beach, with certain protocols. There are far more places where nudity is acceptable than where it isn't.
Starting at Dierhagen and going counterclockwise, the major villages are Wustrow, Ahrenshoop, Prerow and Zingst. At all these villages, the most centrally located and congested beach areas will be all textile. At any particular location, go toward the periphery and swimsuits gradually become less and less common. Zones of textile and FKK use are fluid and indefinite. At some peripheral but still crowded parts of a beach, it is not unusual to see one naked bather for every ten textile bathers. Nudity is freely acceptable as an option. To get away from textile majorities, just go to a beach access farther away from the center of whatever village.
On the north side of the peninsula, the villages of Prerow and Zingst are about 5 kilometers apart, linked by route L21. The stretch of beach between the villages is particularly easy to access, with multiple streetside parking areas and shorts paths through the coastal forest. This placemark is pinpointed along that stretch.
To the west of Prerow, nude bathing occurs mainly toward the west end of Camp Prerow, a seaside campground that is split into textile and FKK zones. Much of the area west of Camp Prerow and extending south almost to Ahrenshoop is national park land with no automobile roads. To the east of Zingst, nude bathing is also possible. Much of the eastern end of the peninsula to the east of Zingst is also park land that is accessible only by bicycle or on foot.
Several red paddle placemarks along the western side of the peninsula pinpoint other places where nude bathers are often a majority.
