Epplesee is an urban recreation lake that is located about 10 kilometers southwest of Karlsruhe, which is among the major cities of the state of Baden-Württemberg. This popular lake has two sandy beaches: a textile beach next to the parking lot and an FKK beach tucked away along the western shore. The nude beach is clearly marked with signs reading "FKK-Bereich" and "Ende FKK-Bereich," indicating the start and the end of the nude beach, respectively ("bereich" means "area"). There is a café next to the FKK beach.

Epplesee is within reach of Karlsruhe's public transit system. The entry to the lake is about a 700-meter walk from S-bahn station Forchheim (lines S4 and S41), at coordinates 48.9649, 8.3386 (Map It).
