This small lake is situated about 4.5 kilometers north of the city center of Bremen (as the crow flies; add a few kilometers for the driving distance). The official name is Stadtwaldsee, which means "City Forest Lake," but it is more popularly called Unisee, borrowing the "uni" from the nearby University of Bremem (Universität Bremen).

There is a sandy textile beach at the southeast corner of the lake. Just north of the sandy beach, a line of trees shields the textile beach from a designated FKK area. The nude area is a grassy lakeshore lawn (no sand). The beach is equipped with restrooms, and there is a snack kiosk during summer. The FKK area, which has about 160 meters of waterfront, is quite popular and can get very crowded on peak summer days.
