Langener Waldsee is a recreation lake about 12 kilometers south of Frankfurt in the vicinity of the city's immense airport (one of the busiest in the world). This lake is a popular recreation area that is especially popular with windsurfers despite the somewhat unsightly presence of an excavating operation along the south and west shores. (To be fair, without the excavating, the lake would not exist.)

The northeast corner of the lake is the location of a popular beach. The entire beach area is fenced, and a fee is required to enter. (If you arrive by car, you'll drive into the enclosed area, which contains the parking lot.) The beach is divided into a west-facing textile zone and a south-facing FKK zone. The two areas are separated by a fence. This is essentially the nude beach of Frankfurt, and it can get very crowded on summer weekends, when the parking lot can be filled to capacity.

The beach is open from mid-May to mid-September, and there is a food concession in the textile area along with toilets and showers. Out of season, the gates are locked and there is no access. The nearest S-bahn station, Dreieich-Buchschlag, is about 3.3 kilometers to the east, and the forested walk from the S-bahn station to the beach takes the better part of an hour. However, there is a shuttle bus (Waldseebus) that runs from Dreieich-Buchschlag to the beach on summer weekends, but this bus runs only when the weather is sunny and the daily high temperature is predicted to be at least 25°C (77°F). If you visit on a weekend when parking is full, follow signs to the park and ride at Dreieich-Buchschlag to catch the shuttle.

Note: Frankfurt, which is Germany's financial capital and a major hub of air travel, is often called "Frankfurt am Main" (Frankfurt on the River Main) to distinguish it from another German town named Frankfurt that is near the Polish border.
