Waihi Beach is both the name of a beach town and its adjacent beach, located along part of the northern coast of the North Island that is between Auckland and the Bay of Plenty. Just north of Waihi Beach, there is a large area of parkland called the Orokawa Scenic Reserve. There are two beaches within the reserve: Orokawa Bay Beach and Homunga Bay Beach. Each of these exceptionally beautiful beaches requires a good bit of walking to reach, and each gets some nude use, although they are not among the better established nude beaches in New Zealand.

Each beach requires about 45 minutes of walking from the closest available parking, but Orokawa Bay is accessed from Waihi Beach, whereas Homunga Bay is accessed from a rural location that is not close to anything. As a result, Orokawa Bay get more overall visitors. On weekends during peak summer season, there may be too many textiles for nudity to be a viable option at Orokawa Bay. At other times, when there may be a dozen or fewer visitors scattered along the entire beach, nudity is a fairly common occurrence. At 600-700 meters long, the beach is just big enough that nudists and textiles can comfortably spread out if there aren't too many people.

If you want to explore Orokawa Bay and Homunga Bay on the same visit, you will have to devote a good deal of time and energy. It takes 90 minutes to hike from one beach to the other, which means you will have to a return walk of over two hours to where you parked.
