Altwarmbüchener See is a recreation lake located about 13 kilometers northeast of the center of Hannover. It lies at the northeast corner of the junction of two autobahns—the A37 and the A2. There are two sandy beaches on the north shore of the lake, and both are textile. The beach at the northwest corner of the lake closest to the parking lot get particularly crowded. Nudity is unofficially tolerated along the undeveloped southern shoreline, especially toward the eastern side. As you approach the larger of the two sandy beaches from the parking lot, you'll intersect a broad path that runs around the entire circumference of the lake—a distance of about 3.5 kilometers. The FKK area is most quickly reached by following the path around the west side of the lake (i.e., go to your right when facing the water). You'll encounter nude sunbathers after 15 minutes or so.
