Xantener Südsee is one of two large recreation lakes located just north of Xanten. The other lake, Xanterner Nordsee, is a little farther north, and both lakes lies just west of the Rhine.

The northwest part of Südsee is the location of a developed, sandy beach that winds about 800 meters along the lakeshore. Most of the length of the beach is along a narrow peninsula that juts southward into the lake. Most of the beach is textile, but part of the beach toward the end of the peninsula is a designated FKK area. Nudists spread out on the sandy beach and on the grassy lawn behind the beach.

Food concessions and other beach amenities are located in the textile zone. The entry fee is €4.50 per person.
