Unterbacher See is a developed recreation lake next to the A46 autobahn, about 12 kilometers southeast of the center of Düsseldorf. The north shore of the lake (closer to the borough of Unterbach) has a camping area for tourists and a textile beach called Nordstrand. The south shore of the lake also has a camping area, but it is for permanent sites only, and the beach on the south shore is called Südstrand. This sandy beach is divided into two zones: one for textiles, one for nudists.

The nude beach is equipped with restrooms and showers, a volleyball court and a playground, and there is a roving snack vendor. Full cafeteria facilities are available across the lake at Nordstrand. The entrance fee is €3.30 per person, and the beach is open from early May to early September. The FKK beach is quite popular, and parking can be scarce on warm summer weekends.
