Schwarzlsee is a man-made recreation lake located about 12 kilometers south of the center of Graz in the neighboring municipality of Unterpremstätten. The lake lies immediately east of the A9 autobahn, and it is just west of the Graz airport. It is surrounded by beach areas, restaurants and other amenities.

Schwarzlsee has a total shoreline of more than 4 kilometers, and it is essentially two adjacent bodies of water. There is a suspension bridge at the point where the two parts of the lake connect. Most of the development of the lake—including the main beach park, a hotel and a large events center—is located along the southern shore of the southern part of the lake. There is a large camping area on the east side, directly east of the suspension bridge that divides the lake into two segments. The northern shore of the northern segment of the lake is designated as FKK. The FKK beach includes a snack stand with an adjacent outdoor eating area. The is a row of parking spaces adjacent to the FKK area, and there is a huge parking lot on the east side of the northern part of the lake.

There is an entry fee of €6 per person, but the fee is reduced for arrivals after 1:00 pm and then further reduced for arrivals after 4:00 pm. There is also a separate parking fee, which likewise is reduced at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.

GETTING THERE / PARKING:

If you are approaching from Graz, go south on the A9 autobahn and take Exit 190 (Schwarzl See). Exit 190 is a designated exit for Schwarzl See, and it is the next exit past (i.e., south of) the A9/A2 interchange. If you are approaching from the opposite direction (i.e., heading toward Graz), there is no Exit 190, so take Exit 192 (Schachenwald). From either exit, you can access the ring road that goes around the lake. Watch for signs pointing to the FKK area.
