The Sense is a river that, for part of its length, flows through a scenic, wooded gorge. A segment of the river near the village of Schwarzenburg is popular with nudists. The naked zone of the river is about a half-hour drive south from Bern, Switerzerland's capital city.

To reach the nudist area, you'll be arriving on a minor road that crosses the Sense between the villages of Albligen and Lanzenhäusern. A covered wooden bridge for automobile traffic crosses the river along this road. When you park, you'll be on the west side of the river just south of the bridge. The area next to the parking lot is textile, but it does not take long to hike to secluded areas. In either direction from the parking lot, walk until you area out of view of the bridge. The river is shallow, and there are many broad gravel bars and some sandy areas as well.

This placemark is pinpointed south of the covered wooden automobile bridge (upstream; to the right when facing the river from the parking lot). This area is generally preferred by straight nudists. About a 1.5-kilometer walk upstream from the parking area, another covered wooden bridge (pinpointed) spans the river, but it is a pedestrian bridge. If you go around a bend and spot the pedestrian bridge, you should probably put something on. Around the next bend, the ruins of a castle sit atop the bluff on the east side of the river, and you should also not be naked within sight of castle visitors. If you care to keep hiking, there are more areas sufficiently secluded for nudity farther upstream.

Going back to the parking lot, if you hike downstream (north; to the left when facing the river from the parking lot), you'll cross under the covered wooden automobile bridge. Once you are out of view of the bridge, you'll reach the area generally preferred by gay nudists. At a walking distance of about 2.3 kilometers upstream from the parking area, there is an unusual house built into the cliff face, high above the river on the west side. A little beyond it, there is a suspended pedestrian bridge over the river, with a high-span automobile bridge visible farther in the background. If you go so far that any of these landmarks come into view, it is time to get dressed.

You'll be hiking across rocky terrain and wading through rivulets as you hike through the riverbed, so wear appropriate footwear.
