Katzensee (also spelled "Chatzensee") refers to two large ponds in the far north of Zürich. Actually, the urban border of Zürich runs directly through the middle of both ponds, so technically only the southern half of each pond lies with the city. The western pond is Unterer Katzensee, while the eastern is Oberer Katzensee.

The larger western pond has a circumference of less than 2 kilometers, and on the southern shore of this pond there is a small but popular bathing establishment with a grassy lawn that spans roughly 150 meters of the shoreline. The western end is designated as FKK. The green line indicates the path from the parking lot to the meadow. As you approach the meadow, you will go by a tall wooden fence on your left. The FKK area is on the other side of the fence. The approximate boundaries are shaded in red. The FKK area is quite small, with a small opening to the pond.

The green paddle placemark is pinpointed in the part of the textile meadow that opens directly to the pond. In the rest of the textile area (next to the FKK area), there are tall reeds at the waterline. This setup allows FKK patrons to enter the water nude but not be visible to textiles.

There is no admission fee, and there is a snack stand in the textile area.
