In the far northwest of the Peloponnese, about 45 kilometers west of Patras and 60 kilometers west of the famous new Rio-Antirrio bridge, Kalogria is a long beach amid extraordinary and unlikely scenery where rugged, arid mountains abruptly meet an area of wetlands. Kalogria Beach spans over 7 kilometers, and it is backed by the Strofilia Forest, which is a dense, lush, deep-green forest of enchanting, distinctively shaped umbrella pines. Most of Kalogria Beach is deserted, but there is some development at the far north end.
Although the vast deserted spans of Kalogria doubtlessly offer ample opportunities for discreet nudity, the nude area of the beach is—oddly enough—very close to the developed textile area, and—even more oddly—the nude area is not really even part of Kalogria. Just beyond the northern end of Kalogria, there is a completely separate, small cove that does not seem to have a proper name of its own. This is where nude bathers congregate.
The hidden nude cove of Kalogria is just 100 meters long, and it typically draws few visitors. The beach seems to be attended mostly by gay men.
