Hiliadou Beach is a 1.4-kilometer-long, very beautiful shingle beach that is very popular in spite of the long, twisty mountain roads through which it must be accessed. The beach lies on the central-eastern coast of Evia (a.k.a. Euboea), which is generally regarded as mainland Greece even though technically it an island. Evia is the second largest Greek island after Crete, and it is bridged to the mainland at Chalcis (a.k.a. Chalkia).
The northernmost segment of Hiladou is separated from the rest of the beach by a very distinctive and unique headland of sorts. Contrary to what one may expect, it is possible to easily pass behind the headland (i.e., on the inland side) to get from one part of the beach to the other. The area northwest of the headland (to the left when facing the sea) is frequented by nudists. This part of the beach is just over 150 meters long. If you can find parking at the very end of the road, you can walk to the nude area in less than a minute.
Although nudity is well established, the beach is popular with campers, and the nude area can be covered with tents in July and August. In addition to the overcrowding this causes, the percentage of nudists also goes way down. The beach is best appreciated on days outside of peak season when the beach is less crowded, during which time the nude area is actually populated mostly by nudists.
