Sougia is located toward the far western end of Crete's southern coast. This remote village has a beach that consists of small pebbles and stretches a little over one kilometer. Despite the absence of sand, the beach is still highly regarded by many nude beach enthusiasts, who gather toward the east end. Depending on the day and the crowd, you may begin to encounter nudity just east of the village establishments that are near the beach, but it is best to use discretion in the areas closer to the village, especially on Sundays when local families come to the beach. If you visit on a day when there are a lot of textiles toward the eastern end, you'll probably find that nude bathers have migrated even farther east beyond the rocks, where there is a tiny cove and a number of grottos.
