Among the smaller of the Cyclades, Folegandros spans less than 13 kilometers from one extreme to the other and is just over one kilometer across in its narrow central area. The island has few roads and residents. On the south-central coast, Agios Nikolas is the best established nude beach on the island. This small, idyllic cove is just 100 meters long and backed by scattered trees that provide a bit of shade. It is accessed by a hike of almost a kilometer from Agali Beach.

In the height of summer, Agios Nikolas can be overrun with textiles. When the beach is overcrowded, expect nudist attendance to be scant—10% or less, maybe even zero. Pre-July and post-August days tend to have more of a 50/50 nude/textile mix. There is sometimes a boat that shuttles visitors from Agali Beach to Agios Nikolas, and there are tavernas at both beaches.
