Velanio Beach, on the southeastern side of Skopelos, is publicized as the nude beach of the island, and it is the only beach on Skopelos where nudity is really well established. Velanio is accessed from neighboring Stafylos Beach, a textile venue which is the most popular beach on the island. As you enter Velanio on its west end, you'll be in an area covered with beach umbrellas where there is a beach bar. Nudity is said to be acceptable here, but in fact this area is likely to be 100% textile, except perhaps during the off season. Keep walking east along the beach and you'll come to several boulders across the beach that essentially divide the beach into textile and nude zones. Go around the boulders and you'll encounter mostly nudists.

In recent years sunbeds and umbrellas have become available for rent in the nude area, making is possible to lounge naked in comfort since the beach is mostly shingle. The nude zone of Velanio tends to be uncrowded, and there are often just a few dozen nudists here even in the height of summer. Beyond the boulders, the beach extends east about 500 meters farther before tapering off near the curvature of the shoreline. It is possible to be nude over this entire length and even beyond.

If you continue past the end of the beach and keep walking along the rocky shoreline, after about 500 meters you will reach an idyllic, sheltered tidal pool beneath the red cliffs. It's a perfect hidden location, but the terrain along the way is a bit difficult and requires some rock scrambling. You can do this hike naked from the ankles up, but sturdy footwear is essential.
