Backed by low dunes and a pine forest, Lido di Dante is the most popular nude beach in Italy, sometimes drawing upward of one thousand nude bathers. It has been officially designated for naturism since 2002, although nudists have gathered here for much longer. The nude area begins about 500 meters south of the seaside development and is signed. Nudity is practiced all the way to the mouth of the river Bevano (pinpointed) and beyond. It is usually possible to wade across the river mouth, and it is also possible to approach the nude area from the south via Lido di Classe (but the walk is much longer than approaching via Lido di Dante).

Two campgrounds are situated a bit north of the nude area (near the parking lot). Camping Ramazzotti is textile. Camping Classe is not altogether naturist but does have a section set aside for nudists. If you stay at Camping Classe, you will have to wear a covering when walking to the beach since the naturist area of the campground does not abut the naturist area of the beach.
