Capo Mortola refers to a headland on the west end of Ventimiglia, less than 2 kilometers east of the French border. The Hanbury botanical gardens are located atop the headland. The red line highlights a 600-meter-stretch of railway between two tunnels, the eastern of which goes under Capo Mortola. Nudity is common along the coves of this stretch, which are accessed via a pedestrian bridge over the railway. The coves toward the west end (to the right when facing the sea) are heavily gay.
