Eraclea Minoa is the name of both a present-day seaside village and its adjacent archaeological site, the remains of an ancient town destroyed by the Carthaginians in 409 B.C. The beautiful tree-lined beach next to the village is textile. On the west end of the village beach, there is a long cliff that resembles the white cliffs of Dover. Hiking atop the cliff brings you to a hidden beach that is popular with nudists. The nude beach is about 700 meters longs, with Capo Bianca (the end of the white cliffs) defining the south end and the mouth of the river Platani defining the north end.
