Jaz is a long beach set it a deep bay. It is the next bay west of the town of Budva, which is the most popular tourist destination in Montenegro. The area that is shaded in green and aqua is the main expanse of Jaz Beach, which stretches about 1.3 kilometers across the north end of the bay. Additionally, there is a narrower, undeveloped and more rugged stretch along the east side of the bay (shaded in red) which is almost a kilometer long.
Along the main expanse of the beach, the western side is backed by an area of flat meadowland where there is a tree-lined tract that serves as both a parking lot and a camping area. Going east along the main beach, the land rises abruptly, and both the eastern end of the beach (aqua) and the rugged eastern extension of the beach (red) are backed by cliffs. The beach is thickly covered in sand on the western side but gets more pebbly as you go east.
The area shaded in green has always been textile. The area shaded in aqua used to be a designated nude beach, but that designation was revoked in 2007 for reasons that are not clear. Nudity is no longer possible along the main beach. However, there is still some nudity along the rugged eastern band of the beach, which is the area shaded in red. This area gets few visitors compared to the main beach, but a bit of discretion may be in order considering the nudity ban.
Jaz Beach is easily reached by car. From Budva, follow the coastal highway (numbered both E65 and E80) northwest (toward Croatia). As you leave town, the road will begin to wind along a mountainside, and shortly you will enter a 500-meter-long tunnel. Once you emerge from the tunnel, continue 2.2 kilometers and then take the next possible left. You'll be on the road that goes toward three beaches: Jaz, Trsteno and Ploče. Follow this road just under 500 meters and take the first possible left, then shortly you'll reach the large parking and camping area at Jaz Beach.
Facing the water from the parking area, go your left. Continue past Villa Poseidon, a multi-story hotel nestled against the hillside that is the most prominent collection of buildings on the beach. About 100 meters past the hotel, you'll reach a scree of rocks that is easily crossed. This used to be the land feature that divided the textile and nude areas before the nudist designation was revoked. Past the rocks, you'll be on the former nude beach, which is about 500 meters long (the aqua-shaded area). Going across the beach, you'll pass a café in the middle of the area, then you'll reach another café at the far end. Beyond the café, go across a collection of boulders and you'll reach the start of the informal nude area. Part of the nude area is situated below the highway tunnel mentioned above.
Jaz Beach is just a 13-kilometer drive from Crvena Glavic Beach (see separate listing), where nudity is practiced more openly.
