El Puntal is a peninsula several kilometers long that extends west from Somo, with the ocean on one side and the bay of Santander on the other. There are beaches on both sides of the peninsula, and the beach on the ocean side is contiguous with Playa de Somo, the town beach of Somo.

The east end of El Puntal is populated by textiles who arrive by car, and the west end is populated by textiles who arrive by boat. The more sparsely populated central area of the beach is where you'll find nudists, on the beach and in the dunes.
