Ses Illetes is the distinctive peninsula on the north side of Formentera. From the salt lake near La Savina, the peninsula tapers northward for several kilometers. A shallow channel of water separates Ses Illetes from Espalmador Island to the north.

For understanding the layout of the peninsula and nudity patterns, take the pinpointed parking lot as a point of reference. This is the northern extent of the beach access road. (Keep in mind that your mode of transit it most likely a moped or bicycle and not a car.)

There is a long cove on the west side of the peninsula next to the parking lot. Another cove lies immediately south. These adjacent coves are identifiable by several tiny islands just offshore, and they are usually known as Playa Ses Illetes (a name often used to describe the narrow northern part of the peninsula as well). These are crowded beaches that are popular with boaters and have a bit of a party atmosphere during the height of summer. Unless you visit on an uncrowded day outside of peak season, there will likely only be textiles here.

Walk north from the parking lot and you'll be on a very narrow part of the peninsula (where this placemark is pinpointed) where the beach has water on both sides. The farther you walk, the more common nudity becomes.

About 1.5 kilometers north of the parking lot, you'll reach a shallow channel. At low tide, it is possible to wade across to Espalmador Island. Nudity is common on the two west-facing beaches of this 2.5-kilometer-long island as well as at the the other tiny coves elsewhere. Espalmador can also be reached by a small passenger ferry from La Savina several time a day.

Backtracking to the parking lot: if you go to the east side of the peninsula and walk south, you'll be on Playa de Llevant. This beach is more subdued than Playa Ses Illetes on the other side of the peninsula, and nudity is common. Walk south a little over one kilometer and you'll reach Tanga bar and restaurant. This part of the beach is often called Tanga Beach and tends to be textile (as do all beach areas near beach bars), but nudity again becomes common as you continue south past Tanga.
