Cala Macarelleta is a tiny cove less than 50 meters across, just around the bend from somewhat larger Cala Macarella. These two beaches and the bay on which they lie are much photographed and heavily visited for the gorgeous scenery and blue-green water. While Macarella is textile, by custom nudity is acceptable at Macarelleta. However, nudists are alway greatly outnumbered by textiles in July and August, when the beach is crowded beyond capacity. Nonetheless, nudity is always perfectly acceptable if you are willing to be in the minority. There is more of a balance of nudists and textiles when crowds are smaller.
Getting to either Macarella or Macarelleta requires a bit of a hike. From the parking lot, just follow signs toward the beaches. It is a walk of about one kilometer to Macarella, then it is another few hundred meters farther to Macarelleta, along a path that follows the shoreline. Allow about 30 minutes the total walk. Also, note that although Macarella and Macarelleta are very close to the coastal village of Cala Galdana, which is just 2 kilometers east as the crow flies, there is no direct automobile access from Cala Galdana to these beaches. The road from Ciutadella is the only way to get to Macarella and Macarelleta unless you park in Cala Galdana and hike westward along the coast or else arrive by sea, as many visitors do. The bay is popular with boaters.
