Just south of Corralejo, there is an immense area of sand dunes—a mini-Sahara next to the sea. The dunes extend about 8 kilometers, and the FV-1 highway passes through. There are two large neighboring resort hotel complexes (both pinpointed) on the beach toward the north end of the dunes (about 2 kilometers south of Corralejo), but otherwise there is no development. Swimsuits should be worn within a few hundred meters in either direction of these hotels, but otherwise the rest of the beach is considered clothing optional, and there are various pockets of nudity along most of the beach. (The southernmost part of the dunes area, where the highway runs next to the coast, tends not to draw nudists.) The area a bit south of the hotels, where this placemark is pinpointed, seems to draw the most nudists.
