Ponta da Piedade is the peninsula just south of Lagos that tapers toward the pinpointed lighthouse. There is a multitude of tiny coves on either side of the peninsula, many of which are difficult or impossible to access, and the whole area is a scenic wonderland of natural rock arches and tiny islands of rocky spires. This area of about one square kilometer is well worthwhile exploring in detail. Plan on taking a lot of photos.

It is not out of the question to encounter nudists at many of the hidden micro-coves, especially on uncrowded days, but the micro-cove that is most popular with nudists is Praia dos Pinheiros. It is a tiny beach that is very sheltered on a small bay that is more than three quarter surrounded by land, with a small opening to the ocean. Regular visitors maintain the steps and ladders that descend to the beach. Regulars also often post unofficial signs announcing the name and nude status. The setting is positively enchanting.

From Pinheiros, a walk of just one kilometer directly west takes you to Praia do Canavial, a much larger nude beach.
