The southern end of Praia dos Alteirinhos was bestowed with an official status as a nude beach in early 2008. The nude area is divided into two areas by a rock outcropping. Toward the water line, there is a gap between the outcropping and a huge land mass that is sometimes an island, depending on the tide. This placemark pinpoints the far southern end of the main body of the beach. At low tide, you can walk through the passage between the outcropping and the sometimes island (see the blue flag placemark) to reach the other hidden zone. If you want to visit the other part of the beach when the passage is under water, it is possible to hike over the outcropping. Alteirinhos is a very popular beach of exceptional rugged beauty.
