Slapton Sands is an unofficial but well-established nude beach, said to have been frequented by nude bathers since the 1930's. Nudity occurs on the northeast end of the beach. Facing the sea from the parking lot, go left on the path that runs along the inland edge of the beach. When the path peters out after about 1/3 mile, you'll be in the nude area, which is backed by scenic cliffs and a dense growth of trees. There are toilets at the parking lot, but otherwise the beach has no amenities. Slapton Sands is popular, and on nice beach days the 100-space parking lot fills up well before noon, even on weekdays. There is no convenient alternative parking. The next lot is about a mile to the southwest, opposite the short spur road to Slapton village.
