Meon Beach extends northwest from the small marina at Hill Head. The beach overlooks the area where Southampton Water (the inlet south of Southampton) meets the Solent (the channel between mainland England and the Isle of Wight). The Isle of Wight is visible in the distance, about 4 miles away. From the pinpointed beachside parking area, go to the beach, turn right and walk northwest. At first you'll pass a long row of beach cottages that extends almost 1/4 mile. After the cottages end, a low clay cliff begin to rise above the beach. Just beyond the cottages, there are a few large house atop the cliff , but beyond these houses, the next clifftop house is over 1/2 mile farther along. This mostly deserted stretch is ideal for nude bathing. Some beach walkers pass through but don't seem to mind nudists, who are typically few in number—perhaps a dozen on weekends and just a few if any on weekdays. Walk a least a few hundred yards beyond the cottages before disrobing.
